Can window coverings be motorized?

Technology has given us the ability to do just about anything with a push of a button. As we become more tech savvy, the use of motorization has become more popular for many everyday items. In fact, in some cases, it’s as easy as opening an app on your phone, allowing you to operate your window coverings from just about anywhere.

So, let’s talk about what your options are when it comes to purchasing motorized window coverings.

While vertical blinds are not as popular as they once were, they can be motorized if you choose and are nice option for some applications.

Roller shades, cellular shades, and horizontal blinds are also a good choice and can be motorized as well.

If woven woods are what you desire, keep in mind the fabric they are made of is a heavier material. When covering a wider window, the battery powered motorization may not work as well, it might require a hard-wired power source. Sometimes it is not an option or not practical.

If you are considering new shutters for your home or office, unfortunately they cannot be motorized the same way as the others can be. To motorize a shutter, the motor would have to be placed inside of the shutter frame, and that’s just not possible.
